It is the senior expression in Aberlour's core range and a fine example of the distillery's generous, sherry-touched style.

Aberlour sits where the Lour burn meets the River Spey, in the heart of Speyside, and the distillery has long been celebrated for its sherry cask whiskies. For the 18 Year Old, American oak casks bring notes of vanilla and toffee, while Oloroso sherry casks impart spice and richness.

On the nose and palate come soft apricot and cream, offset by developing flavours of old leather and oak with a touch of honey. Rich and fruity, it shows apricot, chocolate-coated raisins, liquorice root and freshly grated nutmeg, and the finish moves from crème brûlée to a gentle oak flourish.

This bottle carries Aberlour's classic cream label, presented in a tall gift tube. It is a superb gift for an 18th birthday, a milestone anniversary or any lover of Speyside whisky.

Balanced and elegant, it rewards slow sipping after dinner, and eighteen years in cask give it a depth that younger Aberlours only hint at. It is a natural step up for anyone who already enjoys the distillery's 12 or 16 Year Old.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Soft apricot and cream, with honey.

Palate: Chocolate-coated raisins, liquorice root, nutmeg, old leather and oak.

Finish: Crème brûlée to a gentle oak flourish.

Specifications

Producer: Aberlour

Style: Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Age: 18 years

Proof / ABV: 86 proof (43% ABV)

Cask / Finish: Double cask matured: American oak and Oloroso sherry casks

Region: Speyside, Scotland

Size: 750ml

How to Enjoy It

Serve it neat in a nosing glass, or with a drop of water to bring out the apricot.
