alfred-giraud-harmonie-french-malt-whisky-750ml
Alfred Giraud Harmonie French Malt Whisky 750ml

Alfred Giraud Harmonie is a French malt whisky from the Cognac region, a triple malt, triple wood blend finished in extra old cognac casks and bottled at 46.1% ABV. It is non-chill filtered, naturally coloured and released in an annual run of just seven casks.

Harmonie begins with a blend of two non-peated French malt distillates matured in different casks, the majority in extra old cognac casks and a proportion in new French Limousin and American oak. Once the blend is achieved, the double malt ages exclusively in extra old cognac casks. Finally, it is blended with a lightly peated French malt distillate and finished in the same cognac casks until it reaches its best.

Deep copper in colour, it is bold and inviting on the nose, with warm raisin bread and baking spices around notes of smoky barley. The palate is powerful yet delicate, its silky texture giving way to baking spices and juicy grapes, rich and balanced with a hint of peat. The finish is long, very long, the subtle peat amplifying the soft tannins of the cognac casks.

The heavy, faceted decanter carries the Alfred Giraud label and a crystal-style stopper. It is a refined discovery for whisky lovers and a superb gift for anyone who enjoys both malt whisky and cognac.

Silky with a hint of peat, it shows how the craft of Cognac can shape a great malt whisky.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Warm raisin bread and baking spices, with smoky barley.

Palate: Silky, with baking spices, juicy grapes and a hint of peat.

Finish: Long, very long; subtle peat and soft cognac-cask tannins.

Specifications

Producer: Alfred Giraud

Style: French Malt Whisky, triple malt, triple wood

Expression / Batch: Harmonie, annual release of 7 casks

Proof / ABV: 92.2 proof (46.1% ABV)

Cask / Finish: Extra old cognac casks, new French Limousin and new American oak

Region: Cognac, France

Size: 750ml

How to Enjoy It

Serve it neat in a tulip glass and let it open; a drop of water lifts the grape and spice.
