The Barricas Series is Alma del Jaguar's five-part limited collection of experimental casks, and this release pairs highland Jalisco agave with that exotic wood. Alma del Jaguar is also known for its commitment to protecting the jaguar in Mexico.

Expect the cooked agave character of traditional tequila with notes of sandalwood, coconut, honey, tea, warm spice and Japanese incense, with oriental spices on a long finish.

The label with its jaguar illustration makes it a distinctive gift for tequila and Japanese whisky enthusiasts alike.

Sip it neat to appreciate the dialogue between agave and Mizunara.

Añejo tequila is aged between one and three years in oak barrels of no more than 600 litres, long enough to add colour, sweetness and spice while keeping the character of the agave, which makes it a natural sipping tequila.

Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Cooked agave, sandalwood, incense and honey.

Palate: Coconut, tea and warm spice.

Finish: Long, with oriental spice.

Specifications

Producer: Alma del Jaguar

Style: Añejo Tequila

Expression / Batch: Barricas Series, Mizunara Cask

Age: 22 months

Proof / ABV: 88 proof (44% ABV)

Cask / Finish: Virgin Japanese Mizunara oak

Region: Jalisco, Mexico

Size: 750ml

How to Enjoy It

Sip it neat at room temperature.
