Release #10 is rooted in a classic Kentucky profile, with 62% 9-year-old, 18% 13-year-old and 8% 6-year-old Kentucky bourbons, joined by 10% of a rare 10-year-old Georgia bourbon and 2% of a 10-year-old Tennessee bourbon. The Kentucky components bring different mash bills, from a classic 78% corn recipe to a high-rye, high-malt bourbon.

The result is a complex, high-proof blend in which mature Kentucky oak and caramel meet the distinctive character of its Georgia and Tennessee components.

A collectible numbered release, it makes a fine gift for bourbon enthusiasts.

Sip it neat, then add a few drops of water.

Bourbon must be made in the United States from a mash of at least 51% corn and aged in new charred oak containers, and straight bourbon must be aged at least two years. Those rules give bourbon its characteristic sweetness, with caramel and vanilla drawn from the charred barrels.

Blending lets a whiskey maker combine bourbons of different ages, mash bills and origins so each brings something the others lack: older barrels add depth and oak, younger ones bring brightness, and high-rye recipes contribute spice.

Bourbon can be made anywhere in the United States, and bourbons from Georgia and Tennessee mature in different climates from Kentucky's, giving the blend contrasting character.

Straight bourbon must be aged at least two years in new charred oak and bottled with nothing added but water; every component in this blend is at least six years old.

Tasting Notes

Blend: Five straight bourbons from Kentucky, Georgia and Tennessee.

Oldest: 13-year-old Kentucky bourbon.

Strength: 114.24 proof.

Specifications

Producer: Bardstown Bourbon Company

Style: Blend of Straight Bourbon Whiskeys

Expression / Batch: Discovery Series #10

Proof / ABV: 114.24 proof (57.12% ABV)

Blend: 62% 9 yr KY, 18% 13 yr KY, 8% 6 yr KY, 10% 10 yr GA, 2% 10 yr TN

Region: Bardstown, Kentucky, United States

Size: 750ml

How to Enjoy It

Sip it neat or with a little water.
