Bladnoch, a Lowland distillery on the River Bladnoch founded in 1817, has been thoroughly modernized and producing whisky again since 2017. Midnight Peat's post-maturation in peated-whisky casks adds smoke while the sherry-cask influence remains recognizable.

Campfire peat and sea spray lead on the nose and palate, with vanilla, malt and dried fruit sitting beneath the smoke and a gentle spice.

The bold label makes it a great gift for smoky whisky fans.

Blended Scotch combines malt and grain whiskies for balance.

Lowland distilleries are known for gentle, approachable spirit.

A drop of water opens up the vanilla beneath the smoke.

It pairs with smoked salmon, oysters or dark chocolate.

It is a great introduction to peated whisky.

Serve it in a Glencairn glass by the fire.

It is an easygoing pour for late-night gatherings.

Fans of smoky Highballs will love it.

Peated finishes layer smoke over a softer whisky base.

Try it with ginger ale and a lemon wedge.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Campfire peat, sea spray.

Palate: Vanilla, malt, dried fruit.

Finish: Smoky with gentle spice.

Specifications

Distillery: Bladnoch, Lowlands (founded 1817)

Style: Blended Scotch whisky, peated finish

Finish: Casks that held peated whisky

ABV: 44.5%

Origin: Scotland

Size: 700ml

How to Enjoy It

Enjoy it neat by the fire, on the rocks or in a smoky Highball or Penicillin.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes it smoky?
A finish in casks that previously held peated whisky.

Where is Bladnoch?
In the Scottish Lowlands, the country's southernmost active distillery.

How does it taste?
Campfire peat, sea spray, vanilla, malt and dried fruit.

Explore more in our Scotch collection.
