CALI is so enamored of the mash bill that it bottles Riptide as purely as it comes out of the barrel, straight from the cask without dilution or filtration. Bottled at 118 proof, Riptide is a powerful, complex and delicious whiskey that is surprisingly smooth and easy to drink.

It shows a beautiful amber color and an earthy overtone. Rich butterscotch notes from the oak and fresh-baked bread complement the bite of the rye, creating an incredibly smooth, easy-to-mix high-proof whiskey.

The surf-sunset label makes it a fun gift for California whiskey fans.

American rye whiskey is made from a mash of at least 51% rye and aged in new charred oak, giving it a spicier, drier character than bourbon, with notes of pepper, herbs and baking spice.

Cask strength means the whiskey is bottled without added water.

Rye whiskey must be made from at least 51% rye.

A few drops of water open up the butterscotch and bread notes.

It pairs with smoked meats, aged cheese or dark chocolate.

It is a bold gift for high-proof whiskey fans.

California craft whiskey lovers will want it on the shelf.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Butterscotch, fresh-baked bread.

Palate: Rye bite, earthy oak.

Finish: Powerful yet smooth.

Specifications

Distillery: CALI Distillery, Gardena, California

Style: Cask strength rye whiskey

Mash bill: 95% rye, malted barley

Proof / ABV: 118 proof (59% ABV)

Origin: California, USA

Size: 750ml

How to Enjoy It

Sip it neat with a few drops of water, or use it to give backbone to a Manhattan or Sazerac.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the mash bill?
95% rye with malted barley.

Is it cask strength?
Yes, 118 proof, bottled without dilution.

How does it taste?
Butterscotch and fresh bread with a bold rye bite.

Explore more in our Rye collection.
