For this expression, the new make is diluted to 63.5% ABV with the village water supply before filling into quality American oak ex-bourbon casks from Kentucky for full-term maturation. It was the distillery's first bottling matured exclusively in bourbon casks.

The nose offers decadent vanilla custard with a hint of malt and touches of honey, creamed coconut and shortbread. The palate brings raisins, caramelised figs, delicate vanilla, toffee and citrus, and the finish is subtly earthy with a touch of honey.

A bright, vanilla-rich English malt, it makes a fine gift for bourbon-cask fans.

Sip it neat, then add a few drops of water.

English whisky is a young and fast-growing category. Like Scotch single malt, English single malt is made from 100% malted barley at a single distillery.

First-fill bourbon barrels, used for the first time after holding bourbon, give the most vanilla, coconut and honey to a whisky, which is why this Bourbon Cask is so bright and sweet.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Vanilla custard, malt, honey and coconut.

Palate: Raisins, caramelised figs, vanilla, toffee and citrus.

Finish: Subtly earthy, with honey.

Specifications

Producer: Cotswolds Distillery

Style: English Single Malt Whisky, Cask Strength

Proof / ABV: 118.2 proof (59.1% ABV)

Cask / Finish: First-fill Kentucky ex-bourbon barrels, full term

Region: Cotswolds, England

Size: 750ml

How to Enjoy It

Sip it neat, then with a little water.
