The XR expression is designed to sit between a classic reposado and an añejo, offering extended barrel aging while keeping bright agave character at its centre, an entirely new category for the brand.

It pours a bright golden yellow. The nose brings sweet cooked agave, herbs, fruit and delicate floral notes with vanilla and caramel, and the palate is impressively smooth in texture, sweet and fruity, finishing with light spice.

Its elegant bottle makes it a refined gift for tequila lovers.

Sip it neat, or over a single large ice cube.

Reposado, meaning rested, is tequila aged between two months and a year in oak, which gives it a pale gold colour and a gentle touch of wood while keeping the agave bright and lively.

Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Cooked agave, herbs, fruit, florals, vanilla and caramel.

Palate: Smooth, sweet and fruity.

Finish: Light spice.

Specifications

Brand: El Cristiano

Style: Extra Reposado Tequila, 100% agave

Age: 11 months

Proof / ABV: 80 proof (40% ABV)

Cask / Finish: Ex-bourbon American oak and ex-red wine French oak

Producer: Casa Tequilera de Arandas (NOM 1499)

Region: Highlands of Jalisco, Mexico

Size: 750ml

How to Enjoy It

Sip it neat or over a large ice cube.
