el-dorado-5-year-old-cask-aged-demerara-rum-750ml
El Dorado 5 Year Old Cask Aged Demerara Rum 750ml

El Dorado 5 Year Old is a cask aged Demerara rum from Demerara Distillers in Guyana, aged a minimum of five years in bourbon oak barrels and bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV).

El Dorado is the flagship rum of Demerara Distillers, keepers of Guyana's historic rum heritage and its famous heritage stills. The label's Demerara 1670 embossing and Cask Aged band reflect a tradition of rum making along the Demerara River that stretches back centuries.

The 5 Year Old is a blend of aged rums from the Uitvlugt Savalle still and the Enmore wooden Coffey still, aged for a minimum of five years in bourbon oak barrels in Guyana's tropical climate, which draws rich flavor and a deep amber color from the wood.

Expect toasted brown sugar, butterscotch, toffee and a hint of cinnamon on the nose. The palate brings brown sugar, vanilla, spicy oak and dried fruit with a touch of Demerara smoke, and the finish is dry with lingering vanilla.

El Dorado 5 Year Old is a versatile mixing rum with real depth. Shake it into a Daiquiri, a Mai Tai or a Jungle Bird, or build a classic rum and cola with a squeeze of lime. It makes a rich Rum Old Fashioned with demerara syrup and Angostura bitters, a Dark and Stormy-style highball with ginger beer, and a warming hot buttered rum in winter. Sip it over ice with an orange twist to explore its toffee and spice. Pair it with jerk chicken, pepperpot, grilled pineapple, banana bread or dark chocolate. It is a great introduction to Guyana's rich Demerara style, and a smart bottle for any home tiki bar.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Toasted brown sugar, butterscotch, toffee, cinnamon.

Palate: Brown sugar, vanilla, spicy oak, dried fruit, light smoke.

Finish: Dry, lingering vanilla.

Specifications

Producer: Demerara Distillers, Guyana

Stills: Uitvlugt Savalle and Enmore wooden Coffey

Age: Minimum 5 years in bourbon oak barrels

Style: Cask aged Demerara rum

Proof / ABV: 80 proof (40% ABV)

Size: 750ml

How to Enjoy It

Shake a Daiquiri, or build a rum Old Fashioned.

Frequently Asked Questions

How old is it?
Aged a minimum of five years.

Where is it made?
In Guyana, by Demerara Distillers.

What stills are used?
The Uitvlugt Savalle still and the Enmore wooden Coffey still.

Explore more in our Rum collection.
