It is the first and only time El Tesoro has been aged in Knob Creek rye barrels, and it is bottled at 40% ABV.

El Tesoro is made at La Alteña distillery in the Jalisco Highlands by the Camarena family, using traditional methods: brick-oven cooking, a tahona stone to crush the agave, and distillation to proof. The Mundial Collection pairs El Tesoro's highland tequila with barrels from celebrated whiskey makers around the world, with each edition showing a different side of the agave.

The tequila is wheat brown with golden tones. The nose brings cooked agave, peaches, bread, vanilla, caramel, pineapple, apple, cinnamon, leather and delicate florals. On the palate come cooked agave, black pepper, cinnamon, dark chocolate, vanilla and orange peel with oak and spice, and the finish is long, with lingering oak, spice and minerality. Tastings.com rated it 94 points and VinePair 93.

Presented in its textured gold Mundial Collection box, it is a superb gift for tequila and whiskey lovers alike.

Sip it neat to appreciate how the rye barrel's spice meets the highland agave.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Cooked agave, peach, vanilla, caramel, pineapple, cinnamon and leather.

Palate: Cooked agave, black pepper, dark chocolate, vanilla and orange peel.

Finish: Long, with oak, spice and minerality.

Specifications

Producer: El Tesoro (La Alteña distillery)

Style: Añejo Tequila, 100% blue Weber agave

Expression / Batch: Mundial Collection: Knob Creek Rye Edition

Age: 12 months

Proof / ABV: 80 proof (40% ABV)

Cask / Finish: Charred oak ex-Knob Creek rye whiskey barrels

Region: Jalisco Highlands, Mexico

Size: 750ml

How to Enjoy It

Sip it neat or with a single ice cube.
