frank-august-small-batch-kentucky-straight-rye-whiskey-750ml
Frank August Small Batch Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey 750ml

Frank August Small Batch Straight Rye is a Kentucky straight rye whiskey blended from 10 to 15 barrels and bottled at 100 proof (50% ABV).

Frank August, a Lexington, Kentucky brand launched in 2021, is built on a philosophy of being frank: open, honest and sincere. Its Small Batch Straight Rye joins the flagship Small Batch Bourbon as a permanent release, bottled at a full 100 proof for structure and intensity, with no batch number on the label so that every release stays consistent.

The nose opens with rye spice before shifting to caramel, brown sugar, a hint of citrus and allspice. The palate is rich and sweet, with brown sugar, caramel, graham cracker, raisin and slight leather as rye spice builds, and the finish brings baking spice, cinnamon, peppery oak and leather.

A balanced rye that leans sweet, in Frank August's sleek bottle, it makes a fine gift.

Sip it neat, or use it in a Manhattan or Old Fashioned.

American rye whiskey is made from a mash of at least 51% rye and aged in new charred oak, giving it a spicier, drier character than bourbon, with notes of pepper, herbs and baking spice.

Kentucky straight rye must be made in Kentucky from a mash of at least 51% rye, aged at least two years in new charred oak and bottled with nothing added but water.

Bottling at 100 proof gives rye more weight and grip than the 80 to 90 proof of many everyday ryes, letting the grain's spice and the oak stay well defined.

Small batch blending of a limited number of barrels balances consistency with character.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Rye spice, caramel, brown sugar, citrus and allspice.

Palate: Brown sugar, caramel, graham cracker, raisin and leather.

Finish: Baking spice, cinnamon and peppery oak.

Specifications

Brand: Frank August

Style: Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey, small batch

Batch: 10 to 15 barrels

Proof / ABV: 100 proof (50% ABV)

Region: Lexington, Kentucky, United States

Size: 750ml

How to Enjoy It

Sip it neat or mix a Manhattan.
