It is presented in a sculpted crystal-style decanter with a gift box.

Goalong Distillery was founded in 2017 in Hunan province, in the canyon basin of the Liuyang River surrounded by high mountains, following the creation of the Goalong brand in 2011. The region's enormous swings in temperature drive a lively interaction between whisky and wood, accelerating the ageing process.

The nose brings honey and sweet malt with floral and woody nuances, along with hazelnut. The palate is soft-bodied, with balanced vanilla, nectar and fruity notes, cream, toffee and biscuit, and the finish is light and rounded, with fruit, vanilla, cinnamon and a touch of soft smoke.

The faceted decanter and black and gold gift box make it a striking gift for whisky lovers exploring Asian whisky.

Enjoy it neat or with a little water.

China is one of the newest whisky-making nations, and a wave of distilleries founded in the last decade has begun releasing single malts made with the same pot-still methods as Scotland. Ex-bourbon barrels bring vanilla, honey and soft spice, letting the character of the spirit come through clearly.

The Liuyang River valley's hot summers and cold winters push the whisky in and out of the oak far more than a temperate climate would, which is why five years here yields a well-rounded malt.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Honey, sweet malt, florals and hazelnut.

Palate: Vanilla, nectar, fruit, toffee and biscuit.

Finish: Light and rounded, with vanilla, cinnamon and soft smoke.

Specifications

Producer: Goalong Distillery

Style: Chinese Single Malt Whisky

Expression / Batch: Bourbon Cask

Age: 5 years

Proof / ABV: 80 proof (40% ABV)

Cask / Finish: Ex-bourbon barrels

Region: Hunan, China

Size: 750ml, decanter

How to Enjoy It

Serve it neat or with a little water.
