This bottle comes from barrel 41.

Jefferson's took 10-year-old Kentucky straight bourbon and finished it in bespoke barrels made with the Independent Stave Company, the family-owned Missouri cooperage. The barrels are coopered from proprietary grooved staves, which create a wave pattern inside the barrel and increase the surface area in contact with the bourbon; they were toasted and then flash-charred. The result is a seasoned, double-barrelled whiskey that is both smooth and well balanced.

Jefferson's was founded in 1997 by Trey Zoeller and his father Chet, a famed bourbon historian who wrote a book on the history of Kentucky's distilleries. Eight generations back, the family's ancestor was arrested in 1799 for the production and sale of spirituous liquors. Jefferson's is known for pushing the boundaries of bourbon while preserving tradition, and Twin Oak was released as an experiment in wood science and time.

A fine gift for bourbon lovers curious about how wood shapes whiskey.

Enjoy it neat or over a single large ice cube.

Bourbon must be made in the United States from a mash of at least 51% corn and aged in new charred oak containers, and straight bourbon must be aged at least two years. Those rules give bourbon its characteristic sweetness, with caramel and vanilla drawn from the charred barrels.

Tasting Notes

Base: 10-year-old Kentucky straight bourbon.

Finish: Toasted, flash-charred grooved-stave barrels.

Profile: Smooth, seasoned and well balanced.

Specifications

Producer: Jefferson's

Style: Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, Custom Barrel finish

Age: 10 years

Proof / ABV: 90.2 proof (45.1% ABV)

Cask / Finish: Custom grooved-stave barrels, toasted and flash-charred (Independent Stave Co.)

Batch: Barrel 41

Region: Kentucky, United States

Size: 750ml

How to Enjoy It

Sip it neat or over a large ice cube.
