The Laird family has produced applejack in New Jersey since 1698, and the first commercial transaction was recorded in the family ledger in 1780. Laird & Company remains America's oldest family-run distillery, bottling in Scobeyville, New Jersey.

To meet demand for lighter, lower proof spirits, the Laird family created the blended applejack category in 1972. Best described today as an apple whiskey, Laird's Applejack blends aged apple brandy with neutral grain spirits. The aged apple brandy base gives it a rich, deep flavor and smooth balance while keeping the delicate aroma of tree-ripened apples.

Expect baked apple and light oak on the nose, a smooth palate of ripe apple, caramel and vanilla, and a clean, gently warming finish.

Laird's Applejack imparts its delightful apple flavor to mixed cocktails, punches and culinary recipes, and its versatility is boundless. Shake a classic Jack Rose with lemon and grenadine, stir an Applejack Old Fashioned with maple syrup and bitters, or mix it with ginger ale or hot cider for an easy fall drink. It also adds depth to a Stone Fence with hard cider, a holiday punch, or a pan sauce for pork chops. Pair it with roast pork, sharp cheddar, apple pie or gingerbread. With more than three centuries of family history behind it, Laird's Applejack is a true piece of Americana and a great gift for cocktail lovers and history buffs.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Baked apple, light oak.

Palate: Ripe apple, caramel, vanilla.

Finish: Clean and gently warming.

Specifications

Producer: Laird & Company, Scobeyville, New Jersey

Style: Blended applejack (aged apple brandy and neutral grain spirits)

Family distilling since: 1698

Proof / ABV: 80 proof (40% ABV)

Size: 750ml

How to Enjoy It

Shake a Jack Rose, or mix it with hot cider.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is applejack?
A blend of aged apple brandy and neutral grain spirits, often called America's first spirit.

Who makes it?
Laird & Company, America's oldest family-run distillers.

How strong is it?
80 proof (40% ABV).

Explore more in our Cognac & Brandy collection.
