lobos-1707-mezcal-artesanal-750ml
Lobos 1707 Mezcal Artesanal 750ml

Lobos 1707 Mezcal Artesanal is a 100% Espadín mezcal from Oaxaca, roasted in an open, conical wood-fired fire pit, ground in an Egyptian stone mill and finished in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks.

Inspired by his ancestor of the same name, founder Diego Osorio launched Lobos 1707 in 2020 with CEO Dia Simms and early backing from LeBron James. The mezcal blends Spain's sherry heritage with Mexico's mezcal tradition: unaged Espadín is finished in PX sherry casks for an unapologetically smoky and complex flavor. Each sip conjures its epic past, with a stealthily smooth liquid whose flavor is deep, affecting and dark as the volcanic soil of Oaxaca.

Smoky, dark, charred and peppery on the nose, it is intensely smoky with subtle spice, citrus and red fruit, a touch of cedar and green olive, deep gradual smoothness and a bold, lasting smoky finish.

The sleek black bottle with its wolf emblem makes it a bold gift.

Mezcal is made by roasting agave hearts, traditionally in earthen pits, then crushing, fermenting and distilling them, a process that gives the spirit its characteristic smoky depth. Each agave variety and each village brings its own character, which is why enthusiasts love exploring small-batch bottlings.

Mezcal and other agave spirits are traditionally sipped from a copita or a small clay cup, in small sips, often alongside orange slices dusted with sal de gusano. Many are made in tiny batches by individual families, so each bottle is a snapshot of a particular place, agave and season.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Smoky, charred, peppery.

Palate: Smoke, citrus, red fruit, cedar.

Finish: Bold, lasting smoke.

Specifications

Brand: Lobos 1707

Style: Mezcal artesanal

Agave: 100% Espadín

Process: Conical fire pit, Egyptian stone mill

Finish: Pedro Ximénez sherry casks

ABV: 42%

Region: Oaxaca, Mexico

Size: 750ml

How to Enjoy It

Sip it neat with orange slices, or use it in a smoky Margarita or Mezcal Negroni.

Frequently Asked Questions

What agave is used?
100% Espadín.

What is the finish?
Pedro Ximénez sherry casks.

Who founded Lobos 1707?
Diego Osorio, with Dia Simms and LeBron James.

Explore more in our Mezcal collection.
