new-riff-8-year-old-kentucky-straight-rye-whiskey-bottled-in-bond-750ml
New Riff 8 Year Old Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey Bottled in Bond 750ml

New Riff 8 Year Kentucky Straight Rye is a rare, matured expression of New Riff's flagship rye, aged a minimum of eight years and bottled in bond at 100 proof (50% ABV) without chill filtration.

New Riff Distilling was founded in 2014 in Newport, Kentucky, on the banks of the Ohio River, and this release reflects the long-term vision set in motion that year. Released alongside its 8-year bourbon, it is the oldest rye in the distillery's core range. The mash bill is 95% rye and 5% malted rye, an all-rye recipe with no corn, where the malted rye provides natural enzymes for fermentation and gives a characteristically full-bodied, hugely spicy profile.

Bottled in Bond means the whiskey comes from a single distilling season at a single distillery, aged at least four years in a federally bonded warehouse and bottled at exactly 100 proof. Eight years elevates the bold character of rye with deeper complexity and nuance.

The nose offers aromatic layers of baking spice, toasted grain and a wisp of citrus oil, with saddle leather and herbal rye emerging over time. The palate is assertive yet balanced, with cracked black pepper, clove, spearmint and dried orange peel, while the malted rye softens the structure with undertones of chocolate.

Patience rewarded and spice refined, it is a fine gift for rye lovers.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Baking spice, toasted grain, citrus oil, saddle leather.

Palate: Black pepper, clove, spearmint and dried orange peel.

Depth: Chocolate undertones from the malted rye.

Specifications

Producer: New Riff Distilling

Style: Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey, Bottled in Bond

Mash Bill: 95% rye, 5% malted rye

Age: Minimum 8 years

Proof / ABV: 100 proof (50% ABV), non-chill filtered

Region: Newport, Kentucky, United States

Size: 750ml

How to Enjoy It

Sip it neat, or build an exceptional Manhattan or Sazerac.
