Working with Tonnellerie Radoux of France, a leader in oak barrel making and innovation, Penelope uses French oak staves selected with Radoux's state-of-the-art OakScan process to build a precise flavour profile in every bottle. Rather than moving the bourbon to a new cask, the staves are introduced directly into the ageing barrel, adding French oak's tannin, spice and toasty, savoury character.

The aroma offers sweet candied cream and florals with hints of crème brûlée. Forward notes bring sweet vanilla and viscous cream with some savoury oak; the creamy body carries herbal and floral notes, and the finish is rich vanilla, long and lingering, with some heat.

A dessert-forward bourbon built with precision, it makes a great gift for bourbon lovers.

Bourbon must be made in the United States from a mash of at least 51% corn and aged in new charred oak containers, and straight bourbon must be aged at least two years. Those rules give bourbon its characteristic sweetness, with caramel and vanilla drawn from the charred barrels.

Tasting Notes

Aroma: Candied cream, florals and crème brûlée.

Palate: Vanilla, viscous cream and savoury oak.

Finish: Rich vanilla, long, with some heat.

Specifications

Producer: Penelope Bourbon

Style: Four-grain Straight Bourbon, French oak stave finish

Age: 4 years

Cask / Finish: French oak staves by Tonnellerie Radoux

Proof / ABV: 104 proof (52% ABV)

Region: United States

Size: 750ml

How to Enjoy It

Sip it neat or with a large cube, or build an Old Fashioned.
