Its whiskey ages in the foggy mornings and temperate evenings of the region that inspired its name, and the distillery uses water from the nearby Russian River aquifer with the best grains, many of them from California. Emerald Giant is named after the world's fastest-growing redwood.

The mash bill is 94% rye, 5% malted barley and 1% wheat. The colour is burnt orange; the nose shows delicate herbal tea, soft cinnamon and dried orange peel, and the palate is viscous, with Earl Grey tea, dark chocolate and coffee beans, leading to a warm spice finish.

A powerful California rye, it makes a fine gift for rye lovers.

Sip it neat, then add a little water to taste.

American rye whiskey is made from a mash of at least 51% rye and aged in new charred oak, giving it a spicier, drier character than bourbon, with notes of pepper, herbs and baking spice.

Rye whiskey is made from a mash rich in rye grain, which gives a spicier, drier character than bourbon.

Cask strength means the whiskey is bottled without dilution, so a few drops of water can open up its aromas.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Herbal tea, soft cinnamon and dried orange peel.

Palate: Earl Grey tea, dark chocolate and coffee beans.

Finish: Warm spice.

Specifications

Producer: Redwood Empire Whiskey

Style: Rye Whiskey, cask strength, unfiltered

Mash Bill: 94% rye, 5% malted barley, 1% wheat

Age: Blend of 4- to 6-year-old ryes

Proof / ABV: 116.6 proof (58.3% ABV)

Region: Sonoma County, California, United States

Size: 750ml

How to Enjoy It

Sip it neat, then add water to taste.
