Each year Ross & Squibb, in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, blends a medley of long-aged high-rye straight bourbons from its stocks, so every release has its own character.

Series IX is robust and savoury with significant oak influence: toffee, candied fruit and oak spice open into warm vanilla, caramelised sugar and subtle tobacco on the finish.

A collectible annual release, it makes a fine gift for bourbon enthusiasts.

Sip it neat, then add a few drops of water.

Bourbon must be made in the United States from a mash of at least 51% corn and aged in new charred oak containers, and straight bourbon must be aged at least two years. Those rules give bourbon its characteristic sweetness, with caramel and vanilla drawn from the charred barrels.

Straight bourbon must be made in the United States from a mash of at least 51% corn, aged at least two years in new charred oak and bottled with nothing added but water.

A high-rye bourbon raises the share of rye in the mash, bringing pepper and baking spice to balance the corn's sweetness.

Non-chill filtered whiskey keeps the natural oils that chill filtration removes, giving a fuller texture.

Repeal Day, December 5, marks the end of Prohibition in 1933, and each Repeal Reserve is released in its honour.

Tasting Notes

Front: Toffee, candied fruit and oak spice.

Mid: Warm vanilla and caramelised sugar.

Finish: Subtle tobacco and oak.

Specifications

Producer: Ross & Squibb Distillery

Style: Straight Bourbon Whiskey, medley

Expression / Batch: Repeal Reserve Series IX, 2025

Proof / ABV: 104 proof (52% ABV)

Region: Lawrenceburg, Indiana, United States

Size: 750ml

How to Enjoy It

Sip it neat or with a little water.
