It is bottled at 40% ABV in a one-litre size.

Ryujin is the dragon god of the sea in Japanese mythology, and the bottle brings him to life in gleaming gold, coiled around the vessel. Mizunara is a rare Japanese oak, native to Hokkaido, prized for the incense, sandalwood and spice it lends to whisky, and it is notoriously difficult to cooper because of its porous, knotty grain.

The whisky is fruity and floral, with honey, orange peel and white chocolate on the palate, and a mellow finish with a hint of oak.

Presented in a gold and black gift box, the golden dragon is a show-stopping gift, particularly for Lunar New Year celebrations.

Enjoy it neat, on the rocks, or in a highball.

Japanese whisky has earned a worldwide reputation for balance and precision, and limited releases from its historic distilleries are among the most sought-after bottles for collectors.

The dragon has long symbolised strength, good fortune and prosperity in East Asian culture, which makes this bottle a popular gift for weddings, business milestones and the Lunar New Year. In Japan, whisky is often enjoyed as a highball, mixed with chilled sparkling water over plenty of ice, a refreshing serve that lets a gentle, floral whisky like this one shine.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Fruity and floral.

Palate: Honey, orange peel and white chocolate.

Finish: Mellow, with a hint of oak.

Specifications

Producer: Ryujin

Style: Japanese Whisky

Expression / Batch: Golden Dragon

Age: 12 months in Mizunara casks

Proof / ABV: 80 proof (40% ABV)

Cask / Finish: Japanese Mizunara oak

Region: Japan

Size: 1L, sculpted dragon bottle

How to Enjoy It

Serve it neat, on the rocks or as a highball with sparkling water.
