siete-leguas-47-blanco-still-strength-tequila-700ml
Siete Leguas 47 Blanco Still Strength Tequila 700ml

Siete Leguas 47 Blanco is the still-strength expression from one of Mexico's most revered traditional distilleries, an unaged 100% blue Weber agave tequila bottled at 47% ABV without dilution.

Destilería Siete Leguas in Atotonilco el Alto, Jalisco, is a family-owned house that has produced tequila since 1952 using the same traditional methods: brick oven cooking, tahona stone and roller mill extraction, open-air wooden fermentation vats and copper pot stills. Bottled at the strength it leaves the still, this blanco keeps a remarkably viscous texture and the full concentration of the agave.

The nose brings freshly cooked agave, citrus zest, herbal undertones and light pepper. The palate is full-bodied and complex, with sweet roasted agave, earthy minerality, white pepper and citrus, and the finish is long and warming, with lingering agave sweetness.

A benchmark of traditional highland tequila, it makes a fine gift for enthusiasts.

Sip it neat to taste the agave, or use it in a top-shelf margarita.

Blanco tequila is bottled unaged or rested for less than two months, so it shows the agave at its purest: bright, peppery and fresh. It is the classic choice for margaritas and palomas, and a good blanco is just as rewarding sipped neat.

Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Cooked agave, citrus zest, herbs and pepper.

Palate: Roasted agave, minerality, white pepper and citrus.

Finish: Long, with agave sweetness.

Specifications

Producer: Destilería Siete Leguas

Style: Tequila Blanco, still strength

Proof / ABV: 94 proof (47% ABV)

Process: Brick ovens, tahona and roller mill, wooden vats, copper pot stills

Region: Atotonilco el Alto, Jalisco, Mexico

Size: 700ml

How to Enjoy It

Sip it neat or mix a margarita.
