To enhance that classic style, Stellum adds small amounts of more barley-forward rye and choice barrels from both Kentucky and Tennessee. Bottled at cask strength, without dilution, each batch carries its own exact proof on the label.

Those additions bring a full, round mouthfeel and flashes of buttery sweetness to an otherwise spicy and tightly focused rye. Expect bold rye spice and pepper, balanced by that buttery richness and the depth of the barrels.

It is a strong gift for rye lovers who like their whiskey big and unfiltered.

American rye whiskey is made from a mash of at least 51% rye and aged in new charred oak, giving it a spicier, drier character than bourbon, with notes of pepper, herbs and baking spice.

Cask strength means the whiskey goes into the bottle at the strength it reached in the barrel, without water.

A 95% rye mash bill is about as rye-forward as a whiskey gets, bringing bold spice and pepper.

Blending rye from different states and barrel styles lets a blender build a fuller, more layered whiskey than a single source alone.

At over 116 proof, a few drops of water open the aromas and soften the heat.

Rye at this strength holds up beautifully in stirred cocktails, where a little dilution from ice brings out its sweetness.

Tasting Notes

Core: Spicy, focused 95% rye.

Texture: Full and round, with buttery sweetness.

Strength: Cask strength, 116.24 proof.

Specifications

Brand: Stellum Spirits

Style: Blend of straight rye whiskeys, cask strength

Mash Bill: 95% rye Indiana base, plus barley-forward rye

Sources: Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee barrels

Proof / ABV: 116.24 proof (58.12% ABV)

Region: USA

Size: 750ml

How to Enjoy It

Sip it neat with a few drops of water, or stir a strong Manhattan or Sazerac.
