Fine Champagne cognac is blended exclusively from Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne eaux-de-vie, at least half from Grande Champagne, the two most prized crus of the Cognac region, and Très Vieille signals a very old blend.

The nose brings candied fruit with cocoa, tobacco and spice. The palate offers gingerbread and fruitcake, with silky tannins and firm oak structure, and the finish is long and elegant.

The tall bottle with its gold-trimmed label makes it a distinguished gift for cognac collectors.

Sip it neat from a tulip glass and let it open slowly.

Cognac must be made from white grapes grown in the Cognac region of France, double distilled in copper pot stills and aged in French oak, with age categories such as VSOP and XO describing the minimum age of the youngest brandy in the blend.

Long ageing in French oak gives old cognac its rancio, the prized savoury, nutty depth that develops only after many years in cask, along with a deep amber colour and silky texture. Cognacs of this age are best enjoyed slowly, letting each sip reveal new layers as the spirit warms in the glass.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Candied fruit, cocoa, tobacco and spice.

Palate: Gingerbread and fruitcake, silky tannins and oak.

Finish: Long and elegant.

Specifications

Producer: The Last Drop Distillers

Style: Très Vieille Fine Champagne Cognac

Expression / Batch: L'Intense

Proof / ABV: 87 proof (43.5% ABV)

Cask / Finish: French oak

Region: Grande and Petite Champagne, Cognac, France

Size: 750ml

How to Enjoy It

Sip it neat at room temperature.
