Matured in a bourbon cask and bottled at cask strength, without chill filtration and with its natural colour, it yielded just 276 bottles.

Whispering Waters is an independent bottling brand founded by The Whiskey Lab and its founders Jay Roberts and Mark Sumlin, who buy their own casks. North British, founded in 1885, is one of Scotland's great grain distilleries, and its spirit usually disappears into famous blends. This release brings a single cask of it into the spotlight as an elegant sipping whisky in its own right.

After more than three decades in wood, the angels' share has softened the spirit to a gentle 46% ABV at natural cask strength, leaving a soft, approachable strength that suits slow sipping.

The bottle carries Whispering Waters' illustrated label with the cask details and 35 years age statement. It is a rare find for collectors of very old Scotch and a remarkable gift for a 35th birthday or anniversary.

Pour it neat and give it time to open; very old grain whiskies reveal their delicate layers slowly.

Scotch whisky must be distilled and matured in Scotland for at least three years in oak casks, and any age statement on the label refers to the youngest whisky in the bottle.

Specifications

Producer: Whispering Waters (The Whiskey Lab), independent bottling

Style: Single Grain Scotch Whisky, single cask, cask strength

Expression / Batch: North British, distilled 1 Sept 1989, bottled 14 Oct 2024, 276 bottles

Age: 35 years

Proof / ABV: 92 proof (46% ABV)

Cask / Finish: Bourbon cask; non-chill filtered, natural colour

Region: Edinburgh, Lowlands, Scotland

Size: 700ml

How to Enjoy It

Serve it neat in a nosing glass at room temperature; at 46% it needs little or no water.
