Avuá Tapinhoã is a rare aged cachaça from Brazil, rested in a single large vertical cask of tapinhoã wood and bottled at 40% ABV.

The single barrel used for this cachaça was originally used by the master distiller's father decades ago. Tapinhoã is an extremely rare Brazilian hardwood, and its large vertical cask of dark, rich wood imparts a creamy texture and a golden hue. Cachaça is Brazil's national spirit, distilled from fresh sugarcane juice rather than molasses.

It offers a creamy texture with delicate notes of toasted coconut and fresh-cut flowers, over the fresh character of sugarcane.

A rare native-wood cachaça, it makes an unusual gift for spirits explorers.

Sip it neat, over ice, or in an elevated caipirinha.

Cachaça must be made in Brazil from fermented fresh sugarcane juice and is usually distilled in copper pot stills or columns to between 38% and 48% ABV; it is the base of the caipirinha, Brazil's national cocktail.

Brazil has a rich tradition of ageing cachaça in native woods such as amburana, jequitibá and tapinhoã, each lending a character quite unlike European oak.

Aged cachaças are often sipped neat in Brazil, much like a fine rum or brandy, to appreciate the influence of the wood.

Avuá works with a family distillery in the Rio de Janeiro state, and its range showcases several native Brazilian woods.

Because tapinhoã is so scarce, cachaças aged in it are rarely seen outside Brazil.
