Cazcanes No. 9 Rosa Reposado is a limited-edition tequila made by resting Cazcanes' Still Strength Blanco in first-fill French oak casks that held Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, then bottling it at 100 proof (50% ABV).
The 54% ABV Still Strength Blanco spent 82 days in the wine casks before bottling, and only one batch is made each year. The red wine casks give the tequila its rosy hue and its name, while the high proof keeps the cooked agave front and centre.
The barrels impart sultry top notes of dark berries, raisins and cocoa alongside undertones of cooked agave, orange blossom honey and baking spice, leading to a dry, peppery finish.
The square bottle with its wooden stopper and twine makes it a handsome gift.

Reposado, meaning rested, is tequila aged between two months and a year in oak, which gives it a pale gold colour and a gentle touch of wood while keeping the agave bright and lively.
Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.
