Glenglassaugh Sandend is a Highland single malt from the revived coastal Glenglassaugh distillery, part of its refreshed core range and bottled at 50.5% ABV.
It is named after Sandend Bay, the small fishing village with a sandy beach beside the distillery on the Aberdeenshire coast, near Portsoy. The whisky is matured in a combination of ex-bourbon, sherry and manzanilla casks, reflecting the sea air, coastal winds and mineral-rich landscape around the bay.
The nose brings bright citrus, honeyed malt and sea spray, with ripe stone fruit and a hint of salted caramel. Creamy vanilla and butterscotch lead into tropical fruit, apricot and gentle spice on the palate, layered with maritime salinity, and the finish is long and elegant, with honey, fruit and a whisper of brine.
A vibrant coastal malt that celebrates the distillery's rebirth, it makes a fine gift for Scotch lovers.
Enjoy it neat or with a drop of water.
Scotch whisky must be distilled and matured in Scotland for at least three years in oak casks, and any age statement on the label refers to the youngest whisky in the bottle.
A single malt Scotch whisky is made from 100% malted barley at a single distillery in Scotland and aged at least three years in oak casks.
Manzanilla is a delicate, dry style of sherry from Sanlúcar de Barrameda in Spain, and its casks lend a light, saline freshness.
