Mumm Sparkling Brut Prestige is the signature cuvée of Mumm's California sparkling wine house, a crisp, elegant brut made in the méthode traditionnelle, the same bottle-fermented method used in Champagne. It is bottled at 12.5% ABV and made for celebrations and everyday toasts alike.
Mumm's California home is Mumm Napa, whose winery and visitor center stand on the Silverado Trail in Rutherford. Founding winemaker Guy Devaux brought Champagne know-how to the valley, and that heritage still shapes every bottle: the wines are made from classic sparkling varieties, blended for a consistent house style and aged on their lees before release.
For Brut Prestige, the grapes are harvested by hand in the cool morning hours so they reach the winery in pristine condition. The blend is built on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in equal measure, with a small share of other varieties completing it. The base wines are fermented at cool temperatures in stainless steel to keep their freshness and fruit, then the winemakers assemble the blend that defines the signature taste.
The wine then goes through its second fermentation in the bottle and rests for 16 months on the yeast, which adds complexity, subtle notes of bread dough and layers of creaminess. After disgorgement it is aged for a further three months on the cork so the dosage fully marries with the base wine before it leaves the cellar.
The result is relaxed yet elegant: fresh orchard and stone fruit, bright citrus and a gentle toastiness, carried by fine bubbles and lively acidity. It is the kind of sparkling wine that works from the first toast of the evening right through dinner, and at its size and style it is an easy bottle to bring to any gathering.

How to Enjoy It
Serve Brut Prestige well chilled, around 45°F, in a flute or a white wine glass, which gives the aromas a little more room. It is versatile at the table and pairs well with sushi, creamy cheeses, hors d'oeuvres and poultry. It is also an excellent base for sparkling cocktails: top fresh orange juice for a classic Mimosa, or use it in a Spritz or French 75. Once opened, close the bottle with a sparkling wine stopper and keep it in the refrigerator to hold on to the bubbles for a day or two.
