Nosotros Madera is the ultra-premium añejo of Nosotros Tequila, aged 21 months in white oak and bottled at 40% ABV, presented with a unique batch number in an engraved box.
Madera, wood in English, reflects an appreciation for the fragility of an era: since time is not promised, it is worth celebrating what comes with age. Madera draws on the signature Nosotros blend of Highland and Lowland agave, the same blend that won Nosotros Blanco World's Best Tequila at the San Francisco International Spirits Competition, and is made with no additives.
It is produced at Casa Maestri (NOM 1438) in the town of Tequila, where the agave is cooked in stone and brick ovens, crushed by roller mill, fermented in open-air tanks and double distilled. Madera is a sipping tequila with a dry fruit and light butterscotch nose and a balanced cinnamon-toffee finish.
In its engraved box, it is a fine gift for a true aficionado's shelf.
Sip it neat to appreciate its depth.
Añejo tequila is aged between one and three years in oak barrels of no more than 600 litres, long enough to add colour, sweetness and spice while keeping the character of the agave, which makes it a natural sipping tequila.
Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.
