Paladar Agave de Amburana is an experimental destilado de agave that bridges the traditions of Mexico and Brazil: 100% Blue Weber agave spirit aged two months in ex-bourbon barrels, then finished for two months in a large amburana wood cask, bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV).
Paladar comes from the last of the independent founding families of tequila and is an homage to the traditions of Mexico. The family harvests 7-year-old Blue Weber agave from its own fields, slow cooks it in brick ovens and ferments it in open-air pine vats with wild and proprietary yeasts. Each batch is twice distilled in a blend of copper and stainless steel pot stills under master distiller Eduardo.
The Experimental Range is a futurist take on the ancient category. Amburana is a rare South American hardwood traditionally used for Brazilian cachaça, and because the spirit is finished in it, Paladar labels it a destilado de agave rather than tequila. Each bottle is hand-dipped in the volcanic soil of the agave fields, a celebration of the product of the earth.
A unique meeting of two spirit cultures, it is an intriguing gift for adventurous drinkers.
Sip it neat or over a large cube.
Reposado, meaning rested, is tequila aged between two months and a year in oak, which gives it a pale gold colour and a gentle touch of wood while keeping the agave bright and lively.
