Paladar Blanco is a 100% Blue Weber agave tequila from the last of the independent founding families of tequila, producing since 1844, bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV).
Paladar, Spanish for palate, is an homage to the traditions and volcanic land of Mexico with a futurist take on an ancient category. The family harvests seven-year-old Blue Weber agave from its own fields, slow-cooks it in brick ovens and ferments it in open-air pine boxes with wild and proprietary yeast. Each batch is twice distilled in a blend of copper and stainless steel pot stills, under master distiller Eduardo.
The result is clean and expressive, rustic and rounded, with fresh agave, citrus blossom, tropical fruit and a hint of vanilla. To celebrate this product of the earth, the base of each bottle is hand-dipped in the volcanic soil of the agave fields.
That earthy, hand-finished bottle makes it a memorable gift.
Blanco tequila is bottled unaged or rested for less than two months, so it shows the agave at its purest: bright, peppery and fresh. It is the classic choice for margaritas and palomas, and a good blanco is just as rewarding sipped neat.
Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.
