Terralta is named for the high land where El Pandillo sits, among the iron-rich red soils of Los Altos. What sets it apart from Camarena's other tequilas is water: Terralta is made exclusively with deep well water drawn from about 150 meters below the volcanic highlands. The cooked agave is crushed on Felipe's mechanical tahona, nicknamed Frankenstein, fermented with native yeast originally propagated by his grandfather and distilled in small copper pots.
