Código 1530 is produced in Amatitán, Jalisco, from fully ripe agave and rock-filtered water, with no added sugars, colours, flavourings or additives. For this release the tequila was first aged in French white oak barrels that previously held Cabernet wine, the signature wood behind Código's aged expressions. It was then finished in a French Cognac cask for around six months beyond its 14 years, giving it a depth and refinement rarely found in agave spirits. Most extra añejos are bottled after three to five years; at 14 years, this release sits in a class of its own.
The presentation matches the liquid. The crystal bottle is crowned with Código's Jerusalem cross metal stopper, and each bottle is numbered from 1 to 400.
