Erstwhile Mezcal Henequen Limited 750ml

Erstwhile Henequén is a limited mezcal made from cultivated Henequén agave, bottled at 45% ABV.

The 2018 limited edition was a small batch of 397 liters, roughly 500 bottles, from the personal collection of master mezcalero Juan Hernández Méndez in Santiago Matatlán, Oaxaca.

The agave (Agave fourcroydes) was crushed by tahona, fermented in open-air wooden vats and distilled in copper alembic pots.

Tasting Notes

• Nose: Mineral and saline with corn meal.
• Palate: Mineral with a tingle.
• Finish: Slightly spicy with a numbing tingle like Sichuan peppercorn.
