Maker's Mark is a wheated Kentucky straight bourbon, bottled at 90 proof, with soft vanilla, caramel and fruit.
It was developed by sixth-generation distiller Bill Samuels Sr. and is still made to his recipe.
One review gives the mash bill as 70% corn, 16% soft red winter wheat and 14% malted barley. The wheat replaces rye, giving a softer mouthfeel. Aged to taste rather than time; bottled at 45% ABV (90 proof).
