The Nolet family has distilled since 1691. Ketel One is partly owned by the Nolet family and partly by Diageo.

The spirit is filtered over loose charcoal and rests in tile-lined tanks until ready. The brand name comes from the distillery's first copper pot still, Distilleerketel #1.
