WhistlePig's BigShǝBàng is a 30-year-old single malt aged in American oak and finished in Vin Santo casks. The brand calls it its oldest and most expensive release, and says it is the oldest known North American single malt on the market.
WhistlePig is best known for rye, but this release is part of its single malt series, following The Béhôlden at 21 years (2023) and The Badönkådonk at 25 years (2024). For BigShǝBàng, fewer than four barrels were offered for purchase.
The whiskey was distilled at Glenora Distillery in Nova Scotia, aged for 30 years in American oak, and then shipped to WhistlePig's farm in Vermont in 2024 for secondary aging in Vin Santo barrels, an Italian dessert-wine cask the blending team spent years sourcing. It is bottled at 90.4 proof (45.2% ABV).
