Don Julio Añejo is a 100% blue Weber agave tequila aged about 18 months in American white oak, long enough to add caramel and vanilla without covering the agave. It is one of the best-known añejos in the category.
Don Julio is a Jalisco brand and its agave comes from the Highlands (Los Altos) of the state.
The agave is slow-roasted in traditional brick ovens, fermented in stainless steel tanks and double distilled in copper pot stills, then aged about 18 months in American white oak barrels, roughly a year longer than the legal añejo minimum. It is bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV).
