The Botanist Islay Dry Gin is a layered dry gin from Bruichladdich Distillery on Islay, using nine classic gin botanicals and 22 local herbs and flowers, bottled at 46% ABV.
The island botanicals are foraged by hand by retired botanists Richard and Mavis Gulliver from Islay's hills, peat bogs and shores. The recipe was developed with former master distiller Jim McEwan.
It is distilled in a copper pot still nicknamed Ugly Betty, rescued from the old Inverleven Distillery. The core botanicals macerate for 12 hours while the foraged botanicals sit in a muslin bag in the still.
