Wolves Malted Barley Series Lot Two is an 11-year-old American single malt whiskey, distilled in 2012 by Marko Karakasevic and bottled at 110 proof. Made from imported Irish malt brewed with a California ale, it was distilled in a copper alembic pot still and aged in new American oak barrels at toast levels ranging from light to char #3.
Wolves works with renowned California distiller Marko Karakasevic, a thirteenth-generation distiller, to release rare whiskeys from his long-aged stocks. Lot Two comes from a small number of barrels laid down in 2012 and left to mature for more than a decade, and it was released in August 2023 in a very limited run.
The varied toast and char levels of the barrels give the whiskey layered oak character. Tasters find honey, caramel apple, dried fig and toasted oat, with a creamy mouthfeel, and the oak brings black pepper, tobacco and vanilla through the finish.
Each bottle is dressed in a hand-wrapped, matte black sheepskin label, making it as striking on the shelf as it is in the glass. It is a rare find for collectors of American single malt.
