Derrumbes Durango is a joven mezcal made from 100% Agave durangensis, called Cenizo, in the remote village of Nombre de Dios in the northern Mexican state of Durango, bottled at 44.9% ABV.
It is cooked in an underground stone pit oven, extracted by hand, naturally fermented and twice distilled in hybrid wood and copper pot stills, with Uriel Simental as maestro mezcalero.
The notes are sweet dark fruit and minerality, wood ash and pepper, with a light wisp of smoke.
