Siete Leguas D'Antaño is the extra añejo from Siete Leguas, one of the most respected traditional tequila houses in Jalisco's Highlands. Made from 100% agave and rested in American oak barrels for five years, it is bottled at 40% ABV and was named Best in Show at the 2024 TAG Global Spirits Awards.
Siete Leguas, named after the horse of revolutionary hero Pancho Villa, is renowned for its traditional methods and additive-free tequila. D'Antaño, meaning of yesteryear, blends tequila from both of the company's distilleries in Atotonilco, and five years in American oak gives it a strong amber colour with golden hues and a full-bodied, unctuous texture that clings to the glass.
On the nose come oak, caramel, dried fruit and sultanas, with baking spices, candied ginger and vanilla. The palate has a spice-forward core with almond butter, gingerbread, marzipan and apricot, alongside vanilla toffee, salted caramel, honey and leather. The finish is long and lingering, with cinnamon-laced oak, black pepper and a slightly smoky edge.
The squat, heavy decanter bears the Siete Leguas crest in red and gold. It is a benchmark extra añejo and a superb gift for a tequila connoisseur.
