1792 bourbon is created at Barton 1792, the oldest fully operating distillery in Bardstown, the heart of bourbon country. Small Batch is the flagship of a range that has grown to include Sweet Wheat, Port Finish, Single Barrel, Full Proof and High Rye.
It is hand crafted from corn, rye and malted barley using the distillery's signature high-rye recipe. The barrels age on the top floors of the warehouses and are removed only at peak maturity, then select barrels chosen by the Master Distiller are married to create each small batch.
The result is a distinctly different bourbon with an expressive, elegant flavor profile. Unmistakable spice notes mingle with sweet caramel and vanilla for a bourbon that is brash and bold yet smooth and balanced, sophisticated and complex. Look for rye spice, vanilla, caramel, fresh cherry and orange zest on the nose; caramel, banana bread, milk chocolate, black pepper and spearmint on the palate; and lingering spice, baked fruit and oak on the finish.
Award-winning and bottled at an unconventional 93.7 proof, it is equally good on the rocks, neat or in a whiskey cocktail such as an Old Fashioned or a Manhattan.
Bourbon must be made in the United States from a mash of at least 51% corn and aged in new charred oak containers, and straight bourbon must be aged at least two years. Those rules give bourbon its characteristic sweetness, with caramel and vanilla drawn from the charred barrels.
