1800 Cristalino Añejo is a crystal-clear añejo made from 100% Weber blue agave, aged 16 months in American and French oak and then finished for six months in Port wine casks, bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV).
The agave is harvested at peak maturity and slow-cooked for optimal flavour. After ageing, a delicate charcoal filtration removes the colour while preserving the richness of an añejo, resulting in a tequila that is both refined and complex. It is presented in 1800's signature faceted bottle.
The nose offers subtle oak, vanilla and a touch of citrus. The palate brings caramel, honey, vanilla and cooked agave layered with soft Port cask influence and oak, and the finish is smooth, clean and elegant, with lingering toasted oak and refined sweetness.
Elegant and crystal clear, it makes a striking gift.
Sip it neat or over a large ice cube.
Añejo tequila is aged between one and three years in oak barrels of no more than 600 litres, long enough to add colour, sweetness and spice while keeping the character of the agave, which makes it a natural sipping tequila.
Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.
