Aberfeldy 16 Year Old is a Highland single malt Scotch whisky, known as the Golden Dram, matured in bourbon and first-fill Oloroso sherry casks and bottled at 40% ABV.
Aberfeldy Distillery lies in the foothills of the central Highlands, in the village of Aberfeldy, Perthshire, near the River Tay. It was founded by the Dewar family in 1896, and its water source is the famous Pitilie Burn, renowned for its quality and its deposits of alluvial gold. Aberfeldy uses a long fermentation of up to 70 hours, which gives its whiskies their rich, honeyed and fruity house style. The 16 Year Old was released in 2015 as part of The Last Great Malts series.
It exhales honey, citrus and spicy cloves, and is sherried and full like fruitcake, with rich dark chocolate and a soothing, mouth-coating finish. It has earned a Double Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition and 93 points from Whisky Advocate.
A golden gift for anyone who loves a rich, honeyed Highland malt.
Enjoy it neat, chilled, or in an Old Fashioned.
Scotch whisky must be distilled and matured in Scotland for at least three years in oak casks, and any age statement on the label refers to the youngest whisky in the bottle.
