Acumen PEAK Atlas Peak Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 is a mountain Cabernet from the Atlas Peak AVA in Napa Valley, bottled at 14.5% ABV.
PEAK is Acumen's top tier, made from its organically farmed hillside vineyards high on Atlas Peak.
The wine is pure, fresh and concentrated, with blackberries, hints of cassis, leafy herbs and tobacco.
Dried herb and coffee notes join deep blackberry fruit, leading to a supple, long finish.
The 2019 earned 93 points from The Wine Advocate. Mountain fruit gives it firm structure and freshness, so it will reward a few more years in the cellar, while a decant makes it a treat to open now.
Good wine rewards a little care in serving. Whites and rosés show best chilled to around 45 to 50°F, while reds are at their most expressive slightly below room temperature, around 60 to 65°F. Opening the bottle and letting it breathe for a few minutes, or pouring it into a decanter, helps the aromas open up.
