Adictivo Añejo is a 100% pure blue agave tequila aged two years in French oak barrels and bottled at 40% ABV, with an intense golden amber colour.
Adictivo bakes its agave piñas in traditional brick ovens and distils twice. Two years in French oak takes this añejo well past the one-year minimum, building a deep colour and a layered profile of dried fruit and toasted oak; French oak tends toward restrained vanilla, more pronounced spice and firmer structure than American oak.
It offers delicious dried fruits and toasted oak on the nose, and a silky texture on the palate, with dried fruit, oak and sweetness, leading to a long finish with a sweet touch.
In its distinctive bottle, it makes a handsome gift.
Sip it neat or on the rocks.
Añejo tequila is aged between one and three years in oak barrels of no more than 600 litres, long enough to add colour, sweetness and spice while keeping the character of the agave, which makes it a natural sipping tequila.
Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.
