Adictivo Extra Añejo is a 100% pure Blue Agave tequila from Jalisco, aged seven years in French white oak barrels and bottled at 40% ABV. This is the generous 1.75-litre format, presented in Adictivo's sculpted, angular glass decanter.
Seven years is more than twice the three-year minimum for the extra añejo category, and the long rest in French white oak gives the tequila a dark amber colour with reddish hues. Adictivo is known for its long-aged expressions, and its extra añejo shows how patient ageing can deepen agave without hiding it.
The tequila has an excellent roasted flavour with sweet and fruity aromas. Vanilla and caramel come through on the palate, rounded and smooth from its years in oak, with the cooked agave still present underneath.
The faceted decanter with its gold agave emblem catches the light beautifully, and in the 1.75-litre size it makes a showpiece for celebrations and a striking gift for any tequila lover.
Share it with friends over a long evening, or keep it as the centrepiece of your bar; either way, there is plenty to go around.
Extra añejo is the most mature category of tequila, created in 2006 for tequilas aged more than three years in oak barrels of no more than 600 litres. The long rest softens the agave's natural pepper and brings out caramel, vanilla and dried fruit, which is why extra añejos are usually enjoyed neat, like a fine cognac or whisky.
