Adictivo Reposado is a 100% blue agave tequila aged eight months in French oak barrels and bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV).
Adictivo is crafted by master distiller Gildardo Partida. The agave piñas are baked in traditional brick ovens, the juice is extracted by stone-roller mill, and the tequila is distilled twice before resting eight months in French oak.
It pours a bright straw color with golden sparkles. Aromas of wood and cooked agave lead to a smooth, prolonged flavor, where the oak adds caramel, honey, vanilla and butterscotch over the cooked agave, and the finish runs long and gently sweet for a reposado.
Its sculpted, twisting decanter makes it a striking gift.
Reposado, meaning rested, is tequila aged between two months and a year in oak, which gives it a pale gold colour and a gentle touch of wood while keeping the agave bright and lively.
Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.
French oak is tighter-grained than American oak, adding gentle spice and a silky texture rather than heavy vanilla.
Eight months is well beyond the two-month reposado minimum, giving a deeper color and richer flavor.
