Alma del Jaguar Añejo Mizunara Cask is a limited-edition añejo from the Barricas Series, aged 22 months in virgin Mizunara oak casks from Japan and bottled at 44% ABV.
Mizunara is a rare Japanese oak prized by whisky makers for the sandalwood, incense and spice it brings. The Barricas Series is Alma del Jaguar's five-part limited collection of experimental casks, and this release pairs highland Jalisco agave with that exotic wood. Alma del Jaguar is also known for its commitment to protecting the jaguar in Mexico.
Expect the cooked agave character of traditional tequila with notes of sandalwood, coconut, honey, tea, warm spice and Japanese incense, with oriental spices on a long finish.

Añejo tequila is aged between one and three years in oak barrels of no more than 600 litres, long enough to add colour, sweetness and spice while keeping the character of the agave, which makes it a natural sipping tequila.
Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.
